KIRIN KING, LLMSW

Life doesn’t usually fall apart all at once—sometimes it shifts suddenly due to unexpected events, losses, or changes that leave you feeling unsteady. Other times, the weight builds slowly over time. Therapy can be a place to pause, breathe, and begin making sense of what’s been weighing on you. My role is to offer a supportive, grounded space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I approach therapy with the belief that healing happens through connection, curiosity, and practical tools that actually fit your life. My work is trauma-informed and person-centered, and I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills such as mindfulness and distress tolerance, and solution-focused approaches. Together, we focus on understanding patterns, building emotional regulation skills, and strengthening your ability to navigate challenges with more confidence and self-compassion.

I earned my Master of Social Work from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis and my Bachelor of Social Work from Indiana University South Bend. My clinical background includes both outpatient therapy and crisis intervention, allowing me to support clients through ongoing therapeutic work as well as moments of acute stress or transition. This experience has shaped how I work in therapy—remaining calm, steady, and focused on helping clients feel supported, grounded, and capable of moving forward.

Beyond individual therapy, I have experience creating and facilitating peer-led support groups, including a women’s anxiety support group centered on connection, empowerment, and shared understanding. I also have a background in training service dogs for individuals with PTSD and anxiety. This work has reinforced my belief that regulation, safety, and healing can take many forms—and that support doesn’t always look the same for everyone.

I am committed to creating a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for clients from all backgrounds. I value authenticity, collaboration, and honoring each person’s lived experience. If you’re considering therapy, this can be a place to slow down, explore what you’re carrying, and begin building skills that support real, lasting change.
